Friday night, many, many miles from home. It’s been a long road to here, but so far a good one.
After a predictably uneventful flight to Denver, I met Mom and Dad – after the requisite bathroom breaks, we hit the road, heading west. Fast forward 60 hours, we’ve spent about 24 hours driving, seen more geological features than I could have imagined existed, saw sunrise and sunset on the very remote North Rim of the Grand Canyon. So did a pile of Japanese photographers in colorful clothing.
And then we drove some more.
This trip isn’t for everybody – my parents have an amazing capacity to put in some heavy miles in a day. Yesterday, we even tested their limits – way too much time in the car, but the scenery was outstanding. When you’re roadtripping with the Floods, that’s the prize, so we’re a happy bunch.
Now we’re stuck in Las Vegas – will somebody please explain the allure of this place? I don’t get it. I try to be understanding and accepting … but I just don’t get it. Based here for another couple of days here before we head off to Arizona. Maybe I’ll magically figure out why people like it here.

Sounds like Canadians Gone Wild to me! I hope Vegas is still there for me to see…
Boo Hoo…I’m in Vegas.
