After a good nap today, James was waiting for me when I went up to get him. As you can see, he’s very good at standing. He makes some sounds that sound something like “Dad” or “Daddy”, but at this point I think that’s more of a coincidence than anything intentional.

Healthy Baby
James was in a very playful mood when we went to pick him up from Lola Elma’s place last Friday night. Though he should have been asleep, he seemed quite content to be rolling, playing and goofing around. Who needs sleep?
Crawling and Playing
About a week ago, we gave James his first Cheerio. He liked it, and quickly wanted to start helping himself. With no apparent effort, his finger and thumb were working together to pick up one Cheerio at a time. The pick ups worked a little better than the drop offs – which ended up in his lap as often as in his mouth – but all in all, I thought it was pretty impressive. I wanted to get a video of the finger/thumb action this weekend, but it seems that he’s graduated to a slightly greedier version. Now he’s grabbing as many as he can, with both hands, with little regard for how many end up in his mouth. Do we have a hoarder on our hands, or is this just evolution’s way of making sure that he’s well fed?
