The year that was 2017

A staggering amount of time has passed since my last post on this website – more than two years on the calendar, and seemingly much more than that in terms of the life we’ve lived and the changes that have occurred in that time.

Enjoying some snow and sledding in Switzerland

First, a relatively quick highlight reel of some of our fondest memories of 2017.

If you’re a more dedicated follower (hi grandparents!), please read on and watch the overly-indulgent 10-minute video at the end of this post.

Christmas 2017 in Lucerne, Switzerland

Why spend Christmas in London when Switzerland is just a short flight away? This year we headed to Lucerne, a beautiful city in the Swiss interior.

Southern Portugal

We’ve now taken our first family trip in Europe, flying to southern Portugal for a bit of wintertime sun. Definitely not summertime warmth but still a nice break from English winter.

Snow!

We had the first snow of the season today. James was unbelievably excited. We spent quite a bit of time outside together playing, shoveling, making snow angels and walking Frank. Luke joined in for a little bit. I think he liked the snow, but wasn’t as big of a fan of the cold.

Food for Luke

After a great 4-month check up, Luke’s doctor gave us the green light to start him on some basic food. First up, milky avocados. He’s a natural eater.

Baby Bear

I spent some quality time outdoors with Luke today – his cute little baby bear blanket/outfit kept him warm and cozy, allowing him to be one cute and happy little guy.

Alphabet

I found this on the fridge today – it looks like James was working on the alphabet, and made it pretty far before either getting stuck or bored. Who says that it needs to go from left to right?

Child Artist

James has recently developed some artistic skills – he’s become proficient at drawing humanoid figures. I’m really digging his signature too – it’s a bit different every time, but all of the essentials are in there. Pretty good for a 3 year old, I think.
