Merry Christmas 2015

Wow, what a day. I’ll have more to add another time but for now, this …

Snow!

We had the first snow of the season today. James was unbelievably excited. We spent quite a bit of time outside together playing, shoveling, making snow angels and walking Frank. Luke joined in for a little bit. I think he liked the snow, but wasn’t as big of a fan of the cold.

Food for Luke

After a great 4-month check up, Luke’s doctor gave us the green light to start him on some basic food. First up, milky avocados. He’s a natural eater.

James Flood, Playground Thug

I guess it’s better to be the pusher than the pushee. This is apparently how James and his new best friend play.

Daycare Baby

It’s hard to believe, but Luke has already begun at daycare. His first day was on Monday. So far, so good. He likes the daycare ladies and barely sleeps while he’s there, just like his big brother three and a half years ago.

James Gets a New Bike

https://youtu.be/eE-hwYx80bY

Mark the date – today is the day that James got his first (two/four wheeled) bike. If his first ride is any indication, he’s going to have a happy life full of bike riding. Don’t tell James, but a few years from now, I expect that Luke will also be riding this sweet bike. Hope the color ages well!

Dad, Triathlete, Not National Champion

For some reason, I decided to take part in the US National Sprint Triathlon Championship in Milwaukee this weekend. Grossly unprepared but willing to pay the registration fee, I decided to give it a try. I finished the race, so that met my success criteria. The act of racing isn’t fun, but in hindsight, it feels good. After 9 years in Milwaukee, I finally swam in Lake Michigan. I got to hear Michele and James cheering for me as I got out of the water. I got to bike on Lincoln Memorial without any traffic, and then got to bike over the Hoan Bridge. Somehow, I was actually able to bike and run faster in this tri than I did in my last one … which I actually trained for. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not.

Hopefully I’ll have some photos to add in here later, but for now, it’s just a screenshot of a bunch of numbers.

2015-age-group-nationals-resultsI was beaten by 70% of the field, but some of those 70% are current and former national and world champions. I can live with that.

Accident Report #1

James came home from his new school yesterday with this:

FullSizeRender 7By the time I picked him up in the afternoon, the bandaid was gone, the scratch was nearly invisible, and James was back to 100%. It’s a miracle.
