James didn’t seem too impressed, but we were happy to introduce him to his new cousin, Mikey. Cute little fella. I think that James will come around once he learns that the little sleeping baby will grow up to be his snack, play and general mischief buddy. Mae and Steve are doing remarkably well in their first week of parenting – hang in there guys!

Though James had a little trim before, he had his first real haircut this weekend. Our shaggy baby turned into a cute little boy.
Better late than never, here are some of the highlights from Birthday #1 – both the actual day, and the big party on the 9th.
I don’t have any photo or video evidence yet, but, James has definitively discovered the notion of ‘up’ in the last week. I think it started with some of the birthday decorations hung high around the house. Now he is almost constantly pointing up with his little index finger, trying to make sure that we all see the stuff above us. Important things like balloons, light fixtures and handles in the car. Can’t wait until he notices birds, trees, stars and airplanes. Won’t be long.
I’m a little slow in getting this added to the site, but … James did have a birthday, we did have a party for him, we had a cake, and a song, and all that good stuff. Here’s the video evidence:

Celebrating, Irish style.
Today is the first snow day for James where daycare is closed. He and I are at home, hanging out, playing, eating snacks, and hopefully having a nap or two. That’s him that should have a nap or two, not me.
No photo or video evidence, but we just saw James take his first two steps. Definitely intentional and ended in a happy crash landing into Michele’s lap. To celebrate, we had him try on my hard hat.
