James has made remarkable progress in so many ways, it’s amazing. We sometimes lose sight of just how far his language skills have come along. One example – the other night, instead of just saying “no”, he surprised us with “The answer is no.” It’s become a bit of a running joke now – even he seems to see the humor in it, and all of the variations that we throw at him. For example,
Me: “The answer is bedtime.”
Him: “The answer is popsicle.”
Another recent James-ism is “open pants”. To the rest of us, that means shorts, but not James. He knows the word shorts, but doesn’t use it. He likes his legs to be “open”, meaning, not covered by pants. Kind of, sort of makes sense … fun to see where a bright mind and sometimes limited vocabulary will take you. Reminds me a little of when I was learning Chinese and would try to make up new words to fill in a blank spot in my vocabulary … although usually I’d just cheat and say the English word.
And because all posts are better with a photo …
