We took advantage of a beautiful end-of-summer morning to get out to the Farmers Market. No surprise, James had a blast.
By the way, I have no idea what he was doing to Mikey’s head – there was no crying, so I think that everything was okay.
Fortunately this ended well and in hindsight wasn’t too scary … but, we’ve had our first Emergency Room visit now. Perhaps related to the Tosafest outing, James started vomiting on Saturday night. By Monday morning it was still going and he was starting to refuse to drink anything. Concerned about dehydration, we called our doctor and ended up going to the ER at Children’s. A long wait, a nap, an anti-nauseant and a popsicle later and we were in the clear, heading home with a smiling, laughing child. Phew.
James and I at the start line of the Tosafest 5k run.
I took this photo a few minutes before the race started … back when I still thought that James would sit in the stroller as I pushed him through a fast paced 5 kilometers.
James had a different plan. He was going to run. And he did. He refused to ride along in the stroller – he refused water and snacks. He acknowledged the spectators who were clapping for him, but only briefly before returning his focus to the run.
A few days short of officially being two and a half years old, James nearly ran a mile. Then as abruptly as he started, he stopped. He was done. Time for refreshments and the playground. James prides himself on being fast (more specifically the fastest) but I think he might be a distance runner.
Last night, we took James to his first Brewers game at Miller Park. The Brewers beat the LA Dodgers 4 to 1. James had a lot of fun cheering and watching everything going on in the stadium and of course eating some ice cream with Michele. I’m not sure how much of the game he understood but it definitely looked like he had a good time. Perhaps the highlight of the night was catching the shuttle bus back to our car. Hard to beat a ride in a bus.
We took advantage of some perfect weather last weekend to head north of Milwaukee and do some strawberry picking. It was the first time for both James and Michele. Hopefully James is more willing to pick the red strawberries next time – this time around he strongly preferred the green ones. A few green berries aside, we had a great time and have eaten some delicious berries.
