On our weekly trip to the dog park, James took notice of leaves on the trees for the first time. Next week – evergreen needles.

On Sunday, we went to the Wisconsin State Fair. It was hot and crowded, but fortunately we were able to find a little bit of cool comfort in the famous Cream Puff Pavilion. James will have to wait at least one more year to try his first cream puff.

Apparently if you’re behind the wheel, do don’t need to sit in a baby seat.

James was doing his best to wish Steve a happy birthday, though it looks like Steve was doing most of the work.

James was having some fun this afternoon hanging out with his Tita Mae.

Mae opened up James’s mind to the sound of a piano. He wasn’t all that impressed, but I can only assume that he’ll come around with time.

Though James doesn’t turn 4 months old until tomorrow, yesterday was his checkup (and vaccination day). Another glowing report. He’s heavier (just a hair under 14 pounds) and longer (25″), and as healthy as a baby could be. While we were waiting for the doctor, he was also enjoying himself in the examining room.

We made a quick stop to visit James over our lunch break today. He seemed happy to see us.

On Saturday afternoon, we took James out to his first bike race. Not sure that we knew what was going on, but he seemed to enjoy the noise and activity. The youngest age group for the races is 3, so it’ll be a few more years until he can pedal his way to victory.
