Thoughts on the Second First Week
Remarkably, we’re already nearing the one week mark with Luke and being the parents of two boys. So what have we learned? Or re-learned?
- Newborns definitely pee and poop frequently
- Luke definitely isn’t James
- James is far more interested in Luke than I had anticipated
- Luke can really eat and sleep
- Newborn smiles still feel like real smiles, even though they aren’t
- Baby fingers and toes are mesmerizing
- I can’t believe that women carry these little creatures inside their bodies
- It sure is helpful to have family around
- Wipe warmers seem to work. Who knew?
Our Michele
Happy Birthday Drinks
Michele treated some friends and I to a Pedal Tavern tour to celebrate my 40th. Fun time.
I Don’t Like That
James has been speaking up a storm lately. His words have turned into two and three word sentences and now beyond. One of his most recent favorites is “I don’t like that”. I guess that’s a lot if progress from the near constant “No” that we used to hear. The ever expanding mind of our 2 1/4 year old is alive and well.

A Trip to the Playground
James and I took advantage of some nice weather after school and headed over to the neighborhood schoolyard. He’s having as much fun climbing up the different types of stairs and faux rocks as he is sliding down the slides. He also likes running to and standing on the various painted shapes that they have on the asphalt. Fortunately, for a split second or two he also posed and smiled for me.
