We found a place that has a large play area and free food for kids on Sunday. Smart idea for them and good time for us.

James recently rediscovered his guitar and has been rocking out in it lately. I’m not sure when he learned to sit up in the window sill, but he’s been doing that a lot lately too.

Halfway through January, here are some photos that have caught my eye.

Over the last week, James has begun hiding on us. He isn’t hiding very well, but he seems to think that he is. He’s gotten very good at standing perfectly still while behind things like the curtains in his bedroom and this fan.

With skills like this, it’s only a matter of time until he can replicate my legendary puppeteering skills from when I was a toddler.

James learned an important lesson today, though he didn’t respond exactly as I would have hoped. He ate his first handful of dirt – based on his reaction, I wouldn’t have guessed that he enjoyed it. However, he didn’t stop at one, and had a few more tastes of dirt before I eventually put down the camera and coaxed him away from the garden. Let’s hope that his dirt-enhanced immune system helps keep him healthy for a long time.
