A little over a week ago, I found James enjoying some quiet tummy time in his crib after waking up from a nap. We have lots of great moments, but fewer and fewer of them are quiet – this was one of the great quiet ones.
James got a case of the giggles, thanks in large part to Michele being silly, while we were having lunch this afternoon (at Phan’s Garden). James has been laughing like this for a couple of weeks now, but this is one of the first ones that I’ve been able to capture on video. Funny stuff.
Bathtime Moments with James
Here are a pair of very different videos of James, taken just minutes apart, during and after bath time.

Trees Have Leaves
This week, James added two new skills to his repertoire – flapping his lips and spitting for prolonged periods of time, and fake coughing. I’m pretty sure that he learned both of these at day care. In any case, this video shows off both new skills along with some good comedic timing, a subtle toot and some close-up first person perspective video. Not bad for under two minutes.

Five Months with James
Happy (Five Month) Birthday James! Wow, where does the time go. So cliché, but so appropriate right now. It felt like we would never get through those first three and a half months, but the last six weeks or so have been so much better. Sweet, glorious sleep.
Like I did for his five week birthday, I’ve put together a compilation of the photos that I’ve taken of James since his birth. If you watched the previous one, the first minute or two will be familiar, but probably worth a second look.
Someday James, we hope that you are able to watch this little video. Know that your parents, and the many people who came to see you in your first months, love you very much. It’s been fun to see you grow up so much already. We can’t wait to see what the next weeks, months and years have in store for us all.
For bonus points, here’s the latest photo of our little birthday boy.
If you’re interested, the song in the video is called “Gotta Know” by JJ Grey and Mofro. Thanks to Jarret for the recommendation.
Flood-Miller Invasion
Things have been a little quiet on this site for the past week or so, at least in part because of a friendly invasion by my sister’s family. I think that the cousins seemed to enjoy each other’s company – James certainly enjoyed having more activity (and noise) around the house. I’m not sure that he enjoyed Kyle’s persistent attempts to pet his hair or touch his eyeballs (Kyle is only 10 months old), but otherwise, they were a pretty happy bunch. We were glad to have them.
